the MacKenzies and the Campbells with variations of the basic 'Black Watch' regimental sett
Dundas's played an important role in restoring the Highland way of life after the penalties imposed as a result of the '45 rebellion'
From Vestiarium Scoticum
The book appears to be a curious mixture of fact and fiction in keeping with the romantic ideology of the time
DRUMMOND OF PERTH (WEATHERED) DRESS the MacKenzies and the CampbellsAlso known as the 'Perthshire or Drummond', 'Perthshire Rock & Wheel' or the 'Drummond of Perth'. This sett is said to be a variation of a pattern called 'Stewart of Fingask', after a plaid allegedly left by Prince Charles Edward Stuart at Fingask in Perthshire in 1746 (William Wilsons of Bannockburn' 1819 Key Pattern Book no. 78, ed. Peter MacDonald 1996). Also recorded in James Logan 'The Scottish Gael' 1831.
