The whisky part of the Lindores Abbey history starts in 1494 and owes its origins to the Tironensian monks that lived at Lindores Abbey, or the Church by the Water, over half a millennium ago. This was also the first recorded distillation of Whisky in Scotland with Brother John Cor, a Lindores monk, commissioned by King James IV to
