Oorspronkelijk komt de angorageit uit de vallei Angora in Turkije, maar tegenwoordig heeft deze geit zich voor de wolproductie over de hele wereld verspreid. Hierdoor is het een zachte stof met een glanzende zijdeachtige textuur.
