Instituted 23 August 1851 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1849 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised depiction of the House Order of Hohenzollern, the reverse with a central inscription of FRIEDRICH WILHELM IV within dates of 1848 1849, circumscribed by an inscription of SEINEN BIS IN DEN TOD GETREUEN KRIEGERN (EVEN IN DEATH, HIS
