Autograph music quote from his opera "Sapho", 2nd act, dated by the composer in 1898. Massenet also writes (an inscription dedication?) Emma Calvs name below Calv was the leading soprano role in the world premiere of Sapho in 1897 (in a highly truncated form) and in the performances in 1898 in more extended forms.
