Grand Tour Vesuvius Lava Skull Pendant jasper all finished in fine millegrainDATE: Victorian, c. 1860 A cool Memento Mori skull amulet made in Italy during the mid 19th century. It's carved from a piece of Mt. Vesuvius lava, and will have been sold as a Grand Tour souvenir from Pompeii. The features, cheek bones especially, are somewhat angular and pronounced but anatomically more or less accurate.
