When he got there hd had to find a way through an Ashanti force which had the base surrounded and was attacking it from all sides

He lived for several years in Pendleton

In silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, measuring 71. 5 mm (w) x 73. 5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, intact enamels, centrepiece insignia slightly loose versus the base, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of Merit was instituted on September 4, 1906 and awarded for meritorious service provided by foreigners to the Republic of Chile, in five grades.
