Its fine, deeply divided palmate leaves that dangle resemble strings emerge red then quickly shift to bright green, and turn gold, orange and reds in fall. Small non showy umbels in mid spring are followed by samaras. Grows best in rich, moist, slightly acidic well drained soils. Prefers full sun in cooler climates, or afternoon shade in southern areas.
