Lanooy received his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, where he studied under the renowned architect and artist Pierre Cuypers, among others. During his life, Lanooy lived and worked in Loosduinen, Germany, Gouda, Purmerend, Epe, and Leerdam.
