Most of the cats we know today are considered descendants of Egyptian felines, thus constituting a living link between the Egypt of the Pharaohs and the contemporary world. The wild cat was domesticated as early as 2000 BC but did not become a major subject of Egyptian funerary frescoes until 500 years later, during the New Kingdom. Worshipped as a
